Chip Mason - City Councillor - Ward 5

I am a lifelong Burlington resident who graduated from Burlington schools and the University of Vermont. I have lived in Ward 5 for almost twenty years with my wife and two daughters. I am a dedicated public servant committed to serving Burlington residents (6 years as a City Councilor, 2 years as a trustee of the Burlington Employee Retirement Systems and 5 years on the Board of Tax Appeals), the disadvantaged (over 15 years on service on boards of the Lund Family Center, Vermont Children’s Trust Foundation, the Northern Vermont Chapter of the American Red Cross and the United Way) and Burlington’s youth (15 years as a youth sports coach). I work in downtown Burlington as a lawyer specializing in helping businesses grow and prosper.

If reelected I will continue the path of fiscal responsibility, the smart and responsible redevelopment of downtown and Memorial Auditorium. I am committed to Ward 5 and will continue efforts to reinforce and support the arts hub, including a reengagement on Plan BTV South End, improve the walking environment and bike lanes on Pine Street and other South End Streets.

I believe that my experience and leadership roles in government, the business and the community will benefit Ward 5 and the City.

It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve and I hope to continue in that role.
