I've lived in Ward 4 since 1995, when I began my career as an educator at Rock Point School. While I still live at Rock Point with my wife and two boys, I am currently teaching social studies at MMU in Jericho. I previously served Ward 4 for two years as a member of the Community Development Block Grant committee charged with allocating federal funds to various community projects around the city. I am very excited for the opportunity to serve Ward 4 as a member of the City Council.

Melanie Barch (Ward 4 Clerk)

Staniford Rd.

I am a life-long resident of Ward 4. My husband, Dave, and I live on Staniford Road where we raised our three children. I am a bookkeeper at a firm in Colchester and was previously an administrative assistant at Flynn School. As my children moved through the public schools, I volunteered in parent organizations at each level. My interest in our community has led to my involvement with various committees and has given me the opportunity to serve in leadership positions with Flynn School and the BHS Booster Club. Our family has served dinners at the Salvation Army, prepared dinner for Ronald McDonald House and baked cookies for the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. Additionally, I have served the ward for fifteen years at the polls and look forward to continuing to do so.

George Gamache - (Inspector of Elections)

Grey Meadow Dr.

I am pleased to have the opportunity to run for Inspector of Election in Ward 4. My earliest memory of the political process is watching the election returns from my parent’s home on Morgan Street in the old Ward 4, at the time encompassing all of the New North End. That started a lifelong interest in politics which included earning a BA in Political Science from the University of Vermont. Now I look forward to serving the residents of Burlington to have fair and efficient elections which promote the highest level of participation by all.

Bill McNamara (Inspector of Elections)

I fell in love with the Burlington area as a freshman at St. Mike’s and have never left. My wife and I have lived here in the New North End for 15 years and have two teenagers in the Burlington schools. I work as a Firefighter for the City of Burlington. I have worked throughout the city and am currently assigned to the New North End station. I have enjoyed working at the polls since 2008 and it has been a pleasure to meet and get to know so many of my neighbors.
