Lizzie Haskell – Ward 3 Candidate

Lizzie Haskell - City Councilor Candidate - Ward 3

I am running for City Council because I want to make sure every voter’s voice is heard by the Burlington City Council. We need an advocate in City Hall that will stand up for our friends and neighbors across Ward 3.

We need to stand up for the vulnerable in our community. I have proposed placing a ban on winter evictions, which in our cold climate can imperil lives. I want to see the City Council place housing plans for low and moderate income Burlington residents at the front of the permitting line. I will advocate for expanded resources for those in our communities with opioid use disorders following a harm reduction model.

As a young Vermonter, I am strongly aware of how unaffordable our city can be and this firsthand knowledge will guide me throughout my candidacy and time in office. I am also aware that my experiences do not represent all of the lived experiences within our Ward, for this reason I promise to be accountable to all of my constituents. I promise to hold monthly ‘Coffee With Your Councilor’ meetings in part because I love coffee, but also because every resident deserves to feel heard by their City Councilor. I want to be a resource to all residents.

I want to bring your voice forward. I hope you will join me in creating a more affordable Burlington and a more accountable City Hall.
